A couple weekends ago, one of my besties came out for a mini autumn vacay.
Let me tell you, Michigan is so beautiful during the fall. The only thing that would make it a more picturesque season is if there were a couple thousand lakes around.
Boyfriend’s uncles accused me of being a huanted house and corn maze enthusiast, and it might be true. I just love everything about this season, the holidays, the weather, the fall produce, and corn mazes, apple orchards, and haunted forests just make me so happy. Plus I startle pretty easily, so I make a good target for all the ghouls looking for kicks. We took L to a haunted forest on Saturday night to celebrate her visit and the wonderful fall weather.
On Sunday morning we also had the treat of grabbing coffee with another friend who was in town for the weekend. Walking across teh diag on central campus we spotted this poster:
Koo Koo Kanga Roo is a band formed by some of L’s good friends from college. Too bad they had been here just a couple days before her visit, or we would have joined their rockin’ dance party.
L and I also spent one afternoon wandering around the Arboretum. I hadn’t been since early this summer. So beautiful in every season.
There is a troll and fairy grove in the Arb, where visitors are encouraged to make houses for the trolls and fairy’s out of different materials. Many of the houses that we saw made creative use out of the colorful leaves and seeds around this time of year.
And oh, the food. There is always a great meal to be had when I have visitors, and L and I know how to do it right. We had fry bread tacos, apple pie, butternut squash lasagna, and pumpkin rolls, all home made. And also visited The Jolly Pumpkin and Seva’s during her visit.
What a great weekend to celebrate the season!Comments: Be the first to comment
